An interesting case in the news recently highlights the importance of health and safety at work. The accident, which took place on the premises of packaging company CPC King’s Lynn, involved a man who fell from a machine gantry within the factory and broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot.
As he was walking along the gantry at the side of one of the packaging machines Mr F, an employee at the factory, lost his footing when the gantry moved and fell off, injuring his shoulder and breaking his foot. Investigations revealed that the gantry had not been properly secured and its unexpected movement had caused Mr F’s accident. He received £6,750 in compensation for his workplace injuries.
The case is important because it shows that even simple things such as properly securing a walkway so that it doesn’t move unexpectedly can expose someone to the risk of injury. The personal injury solicitors at Camps Solicitors have spent the last 25 years working to secure compensation for people injured in work accidents very similar to Mr F’s.
