Compensation claim for asbestos related cancer
A former pit worker from Greater Manchester is making an accident compensation claim against the government after being diagnosed with asbestos-related cancer.
Benjamin Derbyshire from Leigh was diagnosed earlier this year and believes that it was his work for the National Coal Board at Bickershaw Colliery in the 1950s that caused his illness.
90-year-old Mr Derbyshire claims that his family are finding it very difficult to come to terms with the fact that he’s now ill due to something that happened to him so long ago.
Asbestos has claimed many lives over the years and Mr Derbyshire is now urging other former miners to support his fight.
They too could make similar personal injury claims if they have suffered due to asbestos-related illnesses relating to their time in the pits.
