Nurse on way to night shift injured in motorbike accident

A former nursing student has won £800,000 in accident compensation after losing her leg after her motorbike was in a collision with a car.

Lisa Bennett was on her way to her first night shift when she was hit by the car, which also injured her left knee, fractured her spine, broke ribs and left her with a broken shoulder.

The Bournemouth mother-of-one now uses a false leg, but due to severe nerve damaged sustained in the crash, still suffers pain and often needs to use a wheelchair.

Her personal injury claim could have been even larger, but it was discovered that a light on her motorbike was faulty, so a portion was deduction.

After the case, Ms Bennett announced that she was “relieved” that it was over, but lamented that she will “never be able to get [her] life back”.
