Road safety organisations call for speed cameras to remain at accident black spots

More people could suffer personal injury or even be killed on Britain’s roads if speed cameras continue to be switched off by local authorities.

This comes following a statement from a number of safety organisations, including the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) and the AA, which calls for cameras to be retained at accident black spots.

The statement claims that “speed cameras help to save… an estimated 100 lives a year in the UK.”

It continues by stating that “speeding significantly increases the risk of an accident happening and also increases the severity of injuries in an accident.”

In turn, more accidents mean that more people could be making compensation claims for injuries – or worse – which occur in collisions.
