At Camps Solicitors, we are asked by our clients how much a particular injury or accident is worth in compensation. Although our personal injury solicitors handle thousands of compensation claims each year and recover millions of pounds in personal injury compensation for our clients, every case is different. The amount of compensation claim you receive will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to:
- Your age at the time of the accident
Compensation awards are typically larger for younger people as any permanent injuries will affect them for a greater portion of their lives
- The severity of the injury
Minor injuries such as cuts and bruises will receive lower compensation amounts compared with broken bones, brain damage or internal injuries.
- The length of time taken to recover
Injuries that resolve themselves within a few weeks of the accident will receive less compensation than those that take several years to recover form, or in serious cases, leave the victim with permanent symptoms.
- Whether the injury caused a level of disability
It is a sad fact that some personal injuries can leave you with a permanent level of disability; this will be assessed by a medical expert as part of the process of making a compensation claim
