When he was involved in a road traffic that was not his fault, young motorist Mr Skellern sought legal advice to help him to make a claim for personal injury compensation against the driver of the vehicle that had driven into the rear of his car. Camps Solicitors took on the case and associate solicitor Jodie Hudson and her team of support staff handled Mr Skellern’s claim on a day-to-day basis.
The accident took place at the Priorslee roundabout on the outskirts of Telford. Mr Skellern was waiting to join the roundabout when another car that did not stop in time drove into the rear of his vehicle, shunting it forwards. As the accident took place at a major roundabout, Police attended the scene. The accident caused Mr Skellern to suffer whiplash type injuries to his neck.
Camps Solicitors took on Mr Skellern’s case, which, due to him being under 18 meant that he was represented by his father who took on the role of “litigation friend”. Jodie Hudson sent out one of Camps’ client liaison officers to visit Mr Skellern to help him to fill in the initial forms needed to begin his compensation claim. After these forms had been return to Camps’ office in Birkenhead, the next step was for Mr Skellern to attend a private medical examination at a local hospital so that a doctor could prepare a report on his injuries. Along with the other evidence that Jodie and her staff had gathered, the medical report formed a key part of the claim that was put together for Mr Skellern so that he would receive the maximum possible compensation for his particular injuries.
The claim was successful, the Insurance company of the driver responsible for the accident agreed to pay Mr Skellern £1200 in compensation for his injuries. After his case had finished we asked Mr Skellern to provide a few comments on his experiences of making a claim with Camps Solicitors:
